Reading, Art, Coffee: Following Oregon Art & Culture
As local journalism has been so altered by the current media landscape, coverage of the arts and culture has been drastically reduced. The experienced journalists at Oregon Artswatch are committed to ongoing, high quality, statewide coverage of our cultural lives. They not only announce current happenings, they tell important stories and encourage dialog about the people and institutions that constitute our cultural landscape.
This week my child had a school assignment to draw a still life that included culturally relevant objects. He chose a book, a bag of coffee, and art supplies to represent what he felt were touchstones for so many in Oregon. These days it is hard to gather in performance or gallery spaces—or even for coffee. The next best thing is to read Oregon Artswatch for reporting on visual and literary arts, theater, dance, music, arts education, culture, and cultural news.
