Estate Planning Podcast from Hyperallergic

The question “What Should Artists Do With Their Work After They Die?” is a compelling one, though not necessarily one that working artists or their families look forward to tackling. It’s certainly a step in the life cycle of the artworks, though, and one that all artists will face whether they have an established career or are lesser-known. In an April 2018 edition of the Hyperallergic Podcast, Art Movements, host Hrag Vartanian talks with two experts who deal extensively with artist estates. They touch on the work that they do to help artists, galleries and heirs navigate issues like inventory, copyright, paper archives, and setting up a Trust and also give some examples of why this is important to do before the end of an artist’s life. This episode is worthy of a listen and consideration.

While X Gallery cannot offer legal advice, we do offer services to help with inventory management, archive organization, and career documentation in order to assist studio artists with legacy planning.
